Ukraine summed up the interim results of the launch of the gambling market

The process of launching gambling entertainment in Ukraine continues, and experts and politicians are engaged in an active dialogue to solve all the existing problems of this sphere. So, a round table dedicated to the first results of the gambling market in Ukraine was held on January 29 at the press center of the Ukrainian News information agency.
The curator of the event was the head of Ukrainian Gambling Association, Anton Kuchukhidze. The questions of journalists were answered by the representative of the expert council of the regulator Boris Baum. Also a number of other specialists of profile departments and business representatives took part in the discussion of the most important issues.
The participants of the dialogue analyzed the positive aspects of the launch of the sphere of gambling entertainment, assessed the risks and possible problems associated with the actualization of gambling. They also voiced various difficulties in the implementation of the relevant law adopted by President Vladimir Zelensky in August last year.
In particular, the experts raised the topic of certification of gambling equipment for casinos and betting offices. Igor Makievsky, a representative of the All-Ukrainian Association of Employers, noted that to date the authorities have not developed an effective package of norms that would regulate this process.
He said: “This is a purely technical issue. Of course, it is possible to work on the equipment that is supposed to operate, but it would be working in violation of the law. We wouldn’t want the market to start working that way.”
Makievsky also separately addressed the need for special training programs to improve the qualifications of casino workers. He drew attention to the practical absence of institutes which could prepare such personnel.
In addition, the experts once again pointed to serious problems in the current tax legislation. Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, according to many representatives of the gambling sector, deliberately delay consideration of the bill 2713-d, which is designed to regulate the taxation of operators.
It was stated earlier that if this document is not adopted the vast majority of foreign operators will refuse to enter the gambling market of Ukraine because of the unreasonably high rates.
Recall that the Ukrainian capital intends to open a casino in the House of Trade Unions.
