Ukraine is considering a variant of the British development of the gambling market

The head of Ukrainian Gambling Association Anton Kuchukhidze at his regular press-conference told about the variants of gambling business development in the country. In his opinion, Ukrainian gambling operators should pay attention to the British model of the industry.

Kuchukhidze noted that in Britain, companies are open to communication with both governmental authorities and the regulator, as well as their own clients. At the same time operators openly conduct their business and regularly conduct research on the work of the gambling industry and the impact of gambling harms on citizens.

“For the Ukrainian gambling market such mechanism of work is wild. But for Britain it is commonplace. The difference is that the British use several variants of communication simultaneously. They competently use a mix of PR and GR. But Ukrainian operators are aimed only at realization of marketing policy. All their work is reduced to selling their services and attracting players”, – said Kuchukhidze.

In addition, the functionary noted the importance of conducting and publishing research, the customers of which should be the subjects of the market. He believes that this type of communication will improve the perception of gambling business by citizens of the state. It is no secret that most Ukrainians have a negative attitude towards the legalization of gambling. However, according to the head of the Association, this situation can be corrected if we follow the example of our British colleagues.

“These cases are important to apply in Ukraine as well. Most of the information around gambling business is negative. But such a communicative norm would help to bring much more reliable data to the public. This approach will allow to change the public discourse. It is important to understand that the sphere of gambling is a socially responsible business,” Anton Kuchukhidze added.

He is sure that the industry must take the situation exclusively into its own hands. Otherwise, according to the functionary, it will be impossible to achieve harmony and stability in this sphere.
