Revenue of Swedish gambling establishments increased by 5% in 2021

The Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen published the results of gambling establishments. Their total revenue in 2021 was SEK 26.02 billion. This is 5% more than was earned in the previous year.
The local regulator has conducted a detailed analysis of the operators for the last quarter of 2021. It turned out that the activities of land-based establishments showed good growth:
Revenue from charity lotteries fell 9.4% last year. Revenue from bingo was also down 5%. Restaurant casinos managed to close the reporting period at 90.6%.
The Swedish regulator Spelinspektionen noted that total revenue from online casino activity was SEK 16.12 billion. This demonstrates the high activity of users on the Internet. However, fans of gambling often visit the land-based establishments. Therefore, the income from them in 2021 increased by 5% compared to the previous year. This allows us to hope that offline casinos will soon overtake gambling sites in popularity and become the main places for gambling for residents of Sweden.
To stimulate the gambling market, state regulatory authorities have granted permission to 95 companies to operate. They have licenses to operate in the Swedish market, and 65 of them can operate online.
Recall that Entain’s business is on the mend – the company is increasing its net profits through the online segment.
