NetEnt will conduct a massive staff reduction on the eve of a merger with Evolution

Leading online slots provider NetEnt is set to launch a massive staff reduction process ahead of its upcoming merger with operator Evolution. According to reports in The Times of Malta, NetEnt employees in Malta were sent home on Tuesday, instructed to wait for more information about their future.

An Evolution spokesperson said that the Maltese developer’s Qormi studio will be completely shut down. However, the company has not yet confirmed this information. It also remains unknown how many employees will lose their jobs. However, a source told the news agency that it will be “several hundred people.”

NetEnt currently has about 1,000 employees worldwide. The Ministry of Economy of Malta said that it will try to find alternative jobs for former employees of the brand.

Recall that Evolution Gaming on the eve of the merger with NetEnt changed its name.
