Macau casino revenues down 70.5%

Macau’s casino gross revenue (GGR) in November fell 70.5% year on year to $844 million, the data was released in a report by the Bureau of Gaming Inspection and Coordination. It is reported that in 2020, only January GGR of $22.13 billion was higher than the previous month.
The lowest GGR for Macau’s gambling sector was in June. At that time it was only $716 million.
GGR increased only after the recovery of tourist traffic from mainland China, first for Zhuhai residents on August 12, and then for Guangdong Province and the whole country on August 26 and September 23, respectively.
Despite the increase in visitor numbers, Macau’s casinos continue to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. According to statistics, the industry’s GGR for the first 11 months of 2020 decreased year-on-year by 80.5%.
Recall that the French online gambling sector has begun to overcome the crisis.
